Vacancies
02 Research Members, 01 PhD and 02 Master student positions are available at AEC LAB (Updated on March 3rd, 2024)
Project 1: Thermodynamics and kinetic mechanisms of metal nucleation (M = Pt, Pd, Ag, Ni, Co, Cu, Cr, Zn, Sn...) on the electrode glassy carbon from deep eutectic solvent (DES): A comparative study between macroelectrochemistry and microchemistry using Scanning Electrochemical Microscope, SCEM.
Project 2: Synthesis and characterization of binary (Fe-Ni, Fe-Co, Pt – Co, Pt – Fe, Pd – Co…) and ternary (Fe-Ni-Co, Pt – Co-Ni, Pt -Pd-Ni, Pd – CoCr...) alloys from DES as catalysts for fuel cells. The fabrication process as well as the catalytic behavior of these materials will be studied under static and forced convection conditions using a rotating electrode system to simulate the working conditions of the catalytic materials during the fuel cell.
Project 3: Optimizing the effectiveness of the catalyst to improve the performance of hydrogen fuel cells using a scanning electrochemical microscope system to obtain images, distribution maps, locations, intensity and density of reactions, catalytic reaction on proton exchange membrane. Establish a process for manufacturing catalysts at laboratory scale and bench scale.
Project 4: Recovery and circulation of precious metals such as Pt, Ni, Co from post-use MAE electrode membrane assemblies and wasted batteries.
The main goal of this project is to develop controllable processes for the fabrication of high-efficiency and cost-effective catalysts at a large scale for fuel cells by electrodeposition method, exploring the possibility of reducing the Pt content in the catalysts by creating alloys of Pt and a less expensive metal, such as Ni, Co and Cu.
As a PhD student, you will be responsible for designing and performing experiments on the synthesis and characterizations of the catalysts using the facilities in-house at Phenikaa University and our collaborators such as XRD, SEM, HR-TEM, UV-VIS, FTIR, TGA… under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tu Le Manh. You will be also in charge of investigating the electrochemical properties and evaluating the performance of the synthesized catalysts as electrode materials for fuel cells. For this part of the project, you will be working under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Manh Tu Le of the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering, Phenikaa University.
