Applied Electrochemical Lab

AEC Lab focuses on the synthesis and characterization of new materials based on electrochemical techniques and the study of advanced properties of existing materials (i.e., anisotropic and electrochemical behavior…) from the physicochemical and natural disciplines. Strengths of the group include novel materials (i.e., pure metals, Pt-based alloy, high entropy alloy) for energy conversion and storage, nucleation and growth phenomena, corrosion and protection of materials. We have analytical expertise in the application of materials from nanometric and microscopic level to the real world, and applied problems.

Research areas of AEC Lab:

Anisotropy of physical-mechanical properties of polycrystalline materials from crystallographic texture measurements (EBSD and X-ray global textures)
Fabrication and characterization of Pt-based and Pt-free alloy electrocatalyst for proton-exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC)
Fabrication of membrane electrode assembly (MEA) for PEMFC.
Corrosion and protection of metals and alloys.
Battery recycling using deep eutectic solvents.
High entropy alloys (HEA): synthesis, characterization, and applications

Vietnam's first and only scanning electrochemical microscope system is now available at the

AEC LAB experimental facility.

Scanning Electrochemical Microscope (SCEM)

The group's research directions will be based on the scanning electrochemical microscope system, Scanning Electrochemical Microscope, SCEM, an extremely useful device in basic and applied research. The main research areas applying the SCEM system include:

1. Batteries, fuel cells and solar cells.

4. Biology (biosensors, biotechnology)

About Phenikaa University

Located in Hanoi – the Capital City of Vietnam, established on the 10th October 2007 with its former name Thanh Tay University, and become a member of Phenikaa Group since 2017, the name Phenikaa University has been officially registered in the world education and research map since the 21st November 2018. Within a year, Phenikaa University has attracted more than 100 young and motivated scientists around the world, including foreign scientists with diverse nationalities, Vietnamese scientists living abroad and Vietnamese scientists from other institutions in Vietnam. The university currently hosts over 400 staff members and 3000 students, and offers more than 20 programs at bachelor and master levels. To create a professional environment and trigger scientific research activities at the university, Phenikaa Group has launched 4 research institutes and centers, including Phenikaa Research and Technology Institute (PRATI), Phenikaa Institute for Advanced Study (PIAS), Phenikaa University Nano Institute (PHENA) and International Center for Social Science Research (ISR), each having an International Advisory Board consisting of well-known scientists from highly ranked universities. In 2019, 9 key research groups and 4 potential research groups, led by the most talented scientists of the university, have been established. Ever since, the research activities at the university have been rapidly promoted.
